The Artist

A filmmaker originally from Tijuana, his work and interests are deeply rooted in this region and the cross-border area, as he explores the complex narratives and social dynamics that emerge from this territory. This exploration has taken shape in the production of two previous feature-length documentaries, *Niña sola* (2019) and *Zona Norte* (2023), both set in Tijuana, which solidify his connection to and understanding of this geographic and cultural space.

The Project

The project, titled “Reportera,” is a short documentary film that portrays the daily life of Inés García, a writer and founder of the independent media outlet Punto Norte. More than a traditional biographical profile or a report on the practice of journalism, the film delves into the intimate and reflective space of someone who translates the daily urgency of the border into collective memory. Its originality lies in decentralizing the perspective: we shift the focus away from sensationalist news or current events and place it on the subtle gestures, silences, and thought processes of a woman who narrates the territory from within.
