Andrea S. Morales

The Artist

My name is Andrea Morales. I am a visual artist and photographer born in Sonora and based in Tijuana, Mexico, since 2017. Over the past ten years, I have developed a practice centered on analog and experimental photography, with a special interest in traditional photographic processes and the material possibilities of the image. My work stems from observing everyday life and seeks to find the extraordinary within the intimate and the spontaneous. Through photography, I explore themes related to identity, youth, memory, and processes of personal transformation. My practice combines image-making with laboratory experimentation, camera-less techniques, and the direct manipulation of photosensitive materials.

The Project

A photography festival in Tijuana that brings together artists, students, emerging photographers, and the general public through a diverse program of activities. Inspired by similar initiatives in Mexico and the United States, the festival will include workshops, lectures, panel discussions, photography walks, print exchanges, exhibitions, and social spaces designed to foster learning, dialogue, and networking among participants. The goal is to create an accessible and open experience that celebrates photography in its many forms, while strengthening the exchange of knowledge and the visibility of photography projects within the border region.
