Alexis Martínez Gutiérrez, an interdisciplinary artist based in Tijuana. For more than a decade, my practice has spanned various disciplines, combining site-specific interventions, performance, installation, sound, and wearable sculptures to explore the cultural, political, and emotional landscapes of the Mexico-U.S. border. My work originates in Tijuana and reflects my experiences living in this border city: a place marked by violence, constant movement, migration, cultural exchange, and the coexistence of realities that often seem to be at odds with one another.
This methodology is the result of years of observing, researching, and living in my environment. The border is not merely a theme or a setting where my projects take place; it is the context that has shaped the way I see and create.
